Land registered in the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in 2025 will receive carbon units from 2023, 24 and 25 – a three-year back pay. However, this window is closing soon, so if interested, do reach out to your local Carrfields representative or email info@carbonfields.co.nz this week with the enclosed form.
If your property has existing scrub, bush or plantations that:
Emerged post-1989
totals 20 ha or more (it can be 1 ha there, 3 ha somewhere else)
Is not already registered in the ETS
Then it would likely qualify for the ETS. Land registered in the ETS receives an annual issue of carbon units for the next 50 years.
There is no cost to the farmer for undertaking an initial assessment. If the property qualifies, Carbonfields can complete all the steps needed to get your farm registered. Carbonfields works on a success fee basis.
A balanced land use of pastoral land and native bush (and in some places exotics) not only continues to grow agricultural production for our country; it rewards farmers for their revegetation and existing environmental efforts.
