Monetise your on-farm scrub, bush and plantations.
New Zealand farmers
can play a role in slowing climate change, and be rewarded for it.
Carbonfields has been created to generate revenue for farmers from the existing bush, forest and scrub on their farms through carbon removal.
We recognise that many New Zealand farms are already playing an active role in removing carbon, and they should be rewarded for this. Farm revenue in the future will be derived not only from livestock and cropping, but also likely to include revenue from businesses such as energy generation, tourism and Carbon.
Carrfields, Geoff Ross of Lake Hāwea Station and CEO Kerry McIntosh are shareholders in Carbonfields, reflecting a partnership between farming enterprises and the carbon economy to deliver new, diversified revenue streams for landowners while supporting on-farm carbon removal.

What we do for farmers
We are a one-stop shop and do the lot for you.
Carbonfields help farmers unlock income from the native regeneration and forestry already growing on their land.
We manage the entire ETS process — from identifying eligible areas and completing registration, through to ongoing administration and annual reporting — making it straightforward for landowners to participate without the complexity.
Our role is to provide practical advice, clear communication, and long-term support so farmers can confidently turn under-utilised land into a valuable asset for the future.

How carbon removal works
Carbon removal not only comes from exotic trees such as pines. It also comes from native trees, scrub and bush, which together play an essential role in storing carbon, improving soil health and supporting local biodiversity across the landscape.
Voluntary, Biodiversity and Nature Based Markets.
Carbonfields is active in the developing voluntary carbon, biodiversity and nature-based markets. While these markets are still emerging, Carbonfields has completed several smaller trades and plans to be at the forefront as they grow.
